Ultrasound Is Destroying Bone Tumors in Clinical Trials

Posted by Molly Jacobson on February 6, 2023

On today’s episode of DOG CANCER ANSWERS we speak with Joanne Tuohy, a board-certified veterinary surgeon who is conducting clinical trials at Virginia Tech on high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU). She’s basically obliterating bone tumors in dogs without breaking the skin, and they walk away after the treatment. Anecdotally, they seem to be in less pain and have a stimulated immune system. Their results are so good, more trials have been set up for HIFU. Listen to this compassionate and eloquent veterinarian explain what may be a future cancer treatment!
