Cure

Cure: When cancer is entirely absent from the body and is not expected to return, the patient has achieved a “cure.” Dogs can live long years past their prognosis, and occasionally cancer disappears and never returns. However, at this time, unlike other areas of veterinary medicine, we cannot say that cancer can be “cured.” There are simply too many times when it cannot be “cured.” However, it may be helpful to think of cancer as a treatable and chronic disease, like diabetes or heart disease; eventually, it may be the cause of death, but treatment can extend the life and provide great life quality in many cases.
